Friendly and helpful staff. Have stayed in a number of hotels in and around Times Square and always felt a bit disappointed with the staff. The staff at the Belvedere were consistently nice and helpful. Even after we had checked out the support was excellent as we waited for our taxi. Check out was at noon which is much better than 10 which seems standard in NYC. The hotel provided a storage facility for our cases until late afternoon.
The hotel charged a security deposit as is fairly standard but it was back in my bank within 10 minutes of checking out. I am still waiting for a refund from 2 years ago from another hotel in Times Square so was pleasantly surprised by the prompt return of the security deposit. The hotel has 4 lifts at different locations in the lobby. I’ve stayed in much larger hotels with only 2 lifts and lengthy queues to get out in the mornings. I stayed at the Gallivant before I moved to the Belvedere and the most annoying aspect was a 20 minute queue for a lift whilst the hotel’s staff lift stood idle but we weren’t able to use it. We didn’t experience any queues for the lifts at The Belvedere.
We didn’t have breakfast nor any other meals at the hotel’s restaurant but it was always very busy in the evenings as we passed by. We had a room with a small kitchenette which was very useful for breakfast.
The towels were fairly new and clean. Pillows were soft but only one pillow per person. I guess you could request additional pillows if you needed it.

Disliked · The kitchenette was not well equipped. It had a microwave and a fridge but no kettle and no toaster. No cups nor utensils. If I had known that prior to my stay I would have taken some bits to make life easier.
The sheets were clean but a bit worse for wear and slightly greying with age.

Disliked · Breakfast — pastries and coffee only. No juices, fruits, eggs, bacon…

Honestly it was a great price for the location. The beds were very comfortable and the room was reasonably and surprisingly spacious for a NYC, vintage hotel. Elevators were small but fast.

Disliked · The shower was bipolar. The water would go from freezing cold to burning hot very unexpectedly. It would have been nice to have coffee in the room.

The location was perfect. Close to times square and subway. The Christmas Tree in Rockafeller center and light shows
Little Italy was my favorite.

Disliked · We came in December so a little cold. Will be coming back in May and plan to stay here again.
